Well, they told me that starting blog titles with a number is good clickbait. The bigger the number, the better, right? It turns out that there are more Bytes in town than Breakfast Bytes. Cadence has a collection of videos that go under the name Training Bytes. Today there are well over a thousand of them. The videos are mostly about 3-4 minutes, although a few are as long as 15-20 minutes. A Training Byte is a self-help short video. The materials could be from a tool, methodology, or language course, covering a topic, or it could be a how-to video showing a new product capability or how to do a specific task within the tool. If related videos exist, they are linked together in a channel so that you can easily access and watch as many as you like. One problem our training team noticed after surveying several customers was that 84% of respondents did not know about Training Bytes. Although there is a good educational resource that users could take advantage of, they had no idea it even existed. So by reading this blog post you are joining the elite group of people who know how to train themselves using Training Bytes. If you are finding out about Training Bytes for the first time now, then your first question is probably, "How do I find these wonderful videos?" The answer is that you go to Cadence Online Support , on the main navigation click on Self-Learning, and then pick Training Bytes from the menu that pops up. I'd give you a link, but it is personalized, so yours will be different from mine. As always on COS, you need to be registered. Once you get there, the Training Bytes page looks like this: You can search for particular topics in the box at the top, or you can narrow down the videos displayed to particular areas (e.g. "custom IC design") or to a specific tool (e.g. Spectre). You can also set date limits to see only new videos. If you have set up product preferences for online support, then you can see just the videos corresponding to your products. There are some Training Bytes on YouTube, but most of them are not there. Instead, they are hosted on Cadence's own website. Here is the YouTube channel . Here are a couple of videos to give you a flavor of what a Training Byte is like. Tasty and healthy food for the mind.
