Cadence provides products across the EDA spectrum, from Silicon Package Board to Digital IC. Each of these areas, called platforms in Cadence parlance, have multiple tools that help achieve specific parts of the design flow. Consequently, each platform/product has several documents that help you achieve the best usage of various products. These are available at https://support.cadence.com and through search or browse. However, these documents often contain similar words which, when searched, may give you documents not relevant to your platform or products of interest. To ensure your search experience is tailored on the platforms, releases and products of interest, Cadence Support Portal provides you a simple way to set your search preferences. To set the search preferences, go to My Support > My Account & Preferences and click the Search Preferences tab. There are three kinds of preferences you can set: Release Preference This determines the release scope for the product manual search. For example, selecting Genus 15.2 will imply that any search on product manuals will always be limited to documents belonging to the release. You can select more than one release in your preference. Platform Preference This scopes the search only on documents that are part of the same platform. For example, selecting Digital IC as a platform preference ensures that the search is limited to only digital content. We suggest that platform preference be used as the primary preference for best results. Additionally, it is advisable to select Cadence Shared Tools as another platform because content that is common across multiple platforms or tools is marked as shared content. Product Preference This preference provides a more fine-grained search scope. However, we advise that you use this with caution as useful content may sometimes be tagged to an older or a different product from the same platform. Preferences are applied to all searches (for example, home page search and dedicated search pages, Troubleshooting, Application Notes, Videos, and so on. The search results page will tell you that preferences have been applied. You can view the preference by clicking your preferences link. Clicking X will rerun the search by clearing the set preferences. Happy searching!
