Virtuosity: Sweeping Multiple Config Views

Before IC6.1.7 ISR10, you could sweep multiple views for only one block in your design. What if you have more than one block that has multiple views that you want to sweep? Well from ISR10 onwards, you can do that. The flow is similar to the original config sweep flow but you are not limited to only having one CONFIG_SWEEP variable. Sweeping multiple blocks in a single view Let's take a look at a simple example. In this schematic view we have 2 blocks, OpAmp and opamp_dc_feedback. The OpAmp block has three different schematic views, the opamp_dc_feedback block has two different schematic views - these could be other view types such as DSPF, layout, extracted, estimated etc. In ADE, simply right-click Global Variables and choose Add Config Sweep . The Select Views form pops up, choose the library and cell from the drop-down list and then click on Select to choose which views you want to sweep, as shown in the figure below: Repeat this for the opamp_dc_feedback block. Now, you can see the two CONFIG variables in the Data View as shown below. Previously it was limited to only one CONFIG variable. Remember that handy Run Preview tab? Here, you can see the combinations of sweeps that will be run. Also notice that there is now a Run column. This allows you to select which points to be run - see the Run Point Selection blog for more information. Run the simulation and see the results.
