The new release of the Virtuoso platform (*ICADVM18.1) offers groundbreaking analysis capabilities and an innovational new simulation-driven layout for more robust and efficient design implementation as well as extending our support for the most advanced process technologies. With this solution, we are able to significantly improve productivity through advanced methodologies and provide the most comprehensive set of solutions in the industry with an interoperable flow across chip, package, module and board. *This feature will also be available in IC6.1.8 for mature nodes. If you’ve been anywhere near the Cadence news buzz the last couple of months, you must have heard about the DRD relaunch, we ’ re sure. The research and development team of the Design Rule Driven (DRD) tool had long been looking into the areas of a new software architecture and new interaction paradigms to make in-design verification smarter and more efficient than ever. The team looked closely at the existing challenges and decided to rebuild DRD from the ground up—a revamp, so to speak. DRD now brings to you a fresh new look and a lot more. Let’s have a closer look. Smart Usability with High Performance You might ask us to explain how the new DRD will augment your experience and why you should opt for it. Well, then, let us highlight a few offerings of the tool. Performance Boost: The new DRD boasts of a significant enhancement in performance, and the results are indeed fascinating. Now, you can edit a layout with DRD ON at the same pace as when DRD is OFF. Some of the features responsible for boosting the performance of the new tool include: Optimized area loading for checking Sliding window-based checking Context-based checking while working with instances and sets of objects And we have numbers to back us up in our claims to enhanced DRD performance. Smart Use Models for Improved Visualization: The new DRD is equipped with smart use models that offer an improved error visualization and streamlined debugging experience. Some of the highlights include: Incremental display of violations Enhanced display of off-screen violations Option to limit the number of halos Arrow and text size as proportional to the shape size Consolidated Interface: The new DRD toolbar offers access to the simplified and consolidated interface in just one click. This new interface houses the interactive and batch checking options in one place instead of two separate forms. Enhanced User Control: The new DRD gives you more control over hierarchy and the constraint and layer filters for design verification.
