To help more students majoring in Electronics Engineering increase their understanding of the EDA industry and find their future direction, the EDA group of Graduate Institute of Electronics Engineering of National Taiwan University and the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) organized “EDA Summer Camp.” For the second year in a row, students were able to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the EDA industry via training classes, panel discussions, and a field visit to EDA company during camp. With the support of the Cadence Academic Network, EDA Summer Camp students visited the Cadence Taiwan office for the first time. There were approximately 70 undergraduate and graduate students, and professors from Computer Science departments from the top five universities in Taiwan. Cadence Taiwan employees took the lead in an office tour and introduced the new office environment which allowed the camp attendees to experience daily work at Cadence. Cadence Taiwan Country Manager Brian Sung shared the history of Cadence and the milestones in Taiwan office. Jess Yang, Cadence Taiwan R&D Director shared the outlook of the EDA industry and skills required to join the EDA field. Additionally, the Cadence Foundry team discussed how Cadence had played an important role working closely with Foundry companies in the ecosystem industry. There was a panel discussion with Cadence employees and summer camp attendees to talk about the idea of working in EDA industry from the perspective of sales, AEs, and R&D. Through EDA summer camp, Cadence Taiwan has built a closer relationship with Taiwan universities. Attendees gave feedback that they benefited a lot from this visit and it contributed to future EDA studies. >![]()
